Workshop with Master Drummer David Thiaw

Master Drummer David Thiaw invites you to a ” Joyful Experience in Rhythm and Movement” on Saturday, November 4. All ages welcome, drums are provided if you do not have your own. Doors open at 12:30 pm, workshop runs 1-3 pm. Enderby Drill Hall, Hwy 97A. No need to pre-register, pay $15 fee on the day. Light refreshments at the break. David’s first home was in Senegal , the western-most country in Africa. He has memories of growing up in Dakar, with the scent of the Atlantic, the sand of the beaches and the music of the people inspiring him.African and World music have been David’s lifelong passion. Over the years David has been able to travel and play in all continents and many countries.Growing up in a culture that music was part of the edac_african drumsPROOFevery- day, not only started David on the path he walks today but also nurtures his strong belief that the ability to play and sing is a human right shared by all.

Turtle Valley Band, Aug 27, our last 2017 Music by the River!

Come hear the HISTORY OF ROCK AND ROLL, from 1957 to 2017, as Turtle Valley plays from a list of 1000 songs the soundtrack of our lives. This band plays 60 years of rock, from the doo-wop era of the 50s to the popular hits of today, some country too, both old and new. Alfie Huston of Turtle Valley on drums and vocals, and Joan Southworth of Salmon Arm on keys, guitar and harp are the core members. Joan was the band teacher for 13 years at AL Fortune. They will be joined by Bill Lockie on stand-up bass, who was a founding member of Terry Jacks and the Chessmen, and by Julian Veres on MusicByTheRiver_TurtleValleyBandsaxaphone, who grew up in Hungary and then emigrated to Canada. This Music by the River concert is a free event, presented by the Enderby & District Arts Council. Sunday, August 27, 7 pm, Belvidere Park by the bridge. Donations accepted during intermission. Bring a chair or blanket and your dancing shoes! Rain or shine – Enderby Drill Hall, Hwy 97A is the rain venue. This is our last 2017 Music by the River. Sponsored by Enderby & District Financial, a division of First West Credit Union. Donations of non-perishable food items accepted for the food bank for the Feed The Valley initiative.

Enderby Arts Festival Saturday July 29 & Music by the River July 30

EnderbyArtsFestival2017_8.5X11Bring the whole family to the Enderby Arts Festival on Saturday, July 29th to enjoy this Free, family-friendly event, 9am-4pm, in Downtown Enderby. In addition to 40 vendors, all-day entertainment stage,Lions pancake breakfast, Legion burgers, food court, quilt show and art auction, the Family Fun Zone returns to Belvidere Park (by the bridge) from 9:30am-3:30pm. There will be face painting, bouncy castle, Papa Thom singer-songwriter, workshop with African drummer David Thiaw, games, crafts, clowns and a mini-goat petting zoo. At the Enderby Library 10:30 to 11:30 Watercolour Bookpage Art. Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to celebrate the Enderby Arts Festival using recycled book pages to create a cool art project. The Enderby & District Community Resource Centre is partnering with the Enderby & District Arts Council to organize and run these activities for children. Info: 838-0577 or 838-2141.

Music by the River is on Sunday July 30 at 7 pm, in Belvidere Park (by the bridge). SABRINA WEEKS & SWING CAT BOUNCE will get you up dancing! Sabrina’s exceptional and award-winning voice works equally well with ballads, blues and swing. She always delights and surprises. Great band to dance to with its big city sound, high energy boogie blues. Free concert, with donations accepted during intermission. Bring a chair or blanket, and the whole family. Rain or shine – at the Drill Hall if it rains or is too cool.

The Blue Hearts acoustic dynamic duo July 14

Hank Lionhart and Mark “westcoast” Comerford are well known blues musicians from the Lower Mainland. They were semi-finalists in the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. They are performing at 7 pm in the Enderby Drill Hall, Hwy 97A. Tickets are $15, available in advance at Little City Merchant (cash only) or at the door.
